Center for Brain Health

A Mind For All Seasons is a center for brain health- a resource you can turn to for the tools, guidance, programs and insight necessary to protect your most important asset: your brain.

According to the Alzheimer’s Association, there are currently 5 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease and that number is projected to increase to almost 14 million by 2050. Deaths from Alzheimer’s have increased 146% between 2000 and 2018 and 1 in 3 seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or another type of dementia. These statistics are sobering and speak to the need for a comprehensive approach toward dementia prevention and treatment.

Imagine that you feel your mind is foggy and you start to worry because you watched helplessly as family members developed Alzheimer’s disease and slowly became people you hardly recognized. You are secretly afraid that dementia might cut your career short or might ruin your plans for a happy retirement. Within a day or two of contacting A Mind For All Seasons, you could be completing baseline cognitive testing and a broad panel of blood work to identify what is contributing to your symptoms. Then, you are assigned a memory coach who walks you through a specially prepared, highly personalized and comprehensive report that is like the user manual to your body. Your memory coach helps you learn how to eat in brain healthy ways, what supplements you personally need based on your lab results, what hormones you should talk to your doctor about replacing, what toxic substances might be affecting you, and more. You have a check in with your memory coach every week to keep you on track, offer encouragement, and answer questions. Every three months your memory coach re-checks your cognitive functioning to measure progress and helps you complete blood work in areas where you needed to improve. You get a new treatment plan and continue working to improve.

What if you are taking care of a loved one who is living with Alzheimer’s or another type of dementia? Perhaps you have been to a medical appointment with your loved one and sat helplessly as the doctor delivered the terrifying news that your mom, dad, spouse, sister, brother, or other loved one has dementia. Then, just as the sting of the words settled upon you, you heard the doctor say, “I’m sorry, but there’s not much I can do.” Millions of people have left doctor’s offices with one of the scariest diagnoses imaginable and feeling like they were thrown into a boat with no oars and pushed out to sea.

At A Mind For All Seasons, there is A LOT we can do to help people living with dementia and those who care for them. We focus on two major areas: treatments to help people function better and coaching and training to help care partners handle things better. We conduct a very thorough evaluation to establish a baseline, including a health history and blood work to determine what nutrient and hormone deficiencies, inflammatory markers, metabolic problems and toxic exposures are negatively affecting brain functioning. We write a 20+ page treatment summary that details exactly what we tested, what the results mean and what treatments to implement- it’s like the user manual for your body. We turn that into a simple daily checklist. We also assign a memory coach that guides everyone involved through the whole process, from sharing recipes and knowing what supplements to buy to connecting families to other professionals and resources. For clients near one of our brain therapy studios, we also have medical devices that promote healing and boost the effectiveness of everything else we do. Through all of this, we also provide coaching, counseling and guidance for families so they know how to interact with their loved one effectively and see the world as it looks to someone with dementia. In short, A Mind For All Seasons is like a complete center for brain health- a one-stop location for everything you need to take care of your brain and the brains of those you love.
